Increase member engagement and stimulate new membership signups.

In 2017, the North Carolina Chapter of the American Culinary Federation was divided into regional chapters.  This provided a unique challenge for the newly established local Charlotte Chapter: what would be the best way to establish the new local face of ACF and provide a stable platform for scalable membership engagement and growth?

Since ACF membership consisted almost entirely of busy foodservice professionals who worked on their feet all day, the solution needed to be mobile-first and have the capability to send notifications.


Develop Custom Mobile App

While the combination of a mobile website and social media accounts could have fit the bill, ACF and theFUZE determined that a mobile app best fit the specific needs of ACF Charlotte.  App features included: push notifications for announcements and reminders, meeting minutes, local job openings, a calendar for meetings or culinary events, image galleries, education and volunteer opportunities, and member spotlights.


ACF Charlotte has doubled their membership in the last 12 months, and relies on the mobile app as their primary method of inter-chapter communication.  The app has also attracted a new generation of culinary students to engage with the chapter, and is a model for other ACF chapters who are now pursuing similar tech strategies.  The Chapter President has also received a national ACF award (The Spirit of Aloha Award) for creativity and innovation.
